Clothing Worth Considering 🛍

Let's talk coats and jackets. We're still in the pretty early days of winter (with mid-February starting the please-GOD-let-this-be-over-already days of winter, IMO).

Depending on where you live, you may have brutal weather already... or maybe your winters are pretty mild the entire season.

Here in NYC, we get a wide range of temps and it changes year to year, which, to me, is a good excuse to have a bunch of different coats and jackets ;)

This is my short list of coat styles. If I could only have three types, it'd be these. (For now, at least, since my tastes and preferences change over time)

1) The Classic Balmacaan Overcoat

Buck Mason’s Glen Plaid Donegal Balmacaan is the kind of overcoat that actually earns its place in your rotation.

Heritage tweed that layers over everything and gives you that effortless, grown-up polish. What makes this approachable is the classic fit and raglan sleeve—it's the perfect dress-up / dress-down coat (most dressy option of the three).

2) The Unbeatable Down Puffer

If it’s cold and wet outside, the SuperPuff from Aritzia stands up to it—high fill-power down and tech-driven shell keeps the elements out while staying surprisingly light.

Puffers that are actually puffy look better to me. If you're gonna go full Michelin Man, go for the inflated tire look like this one, not some sad deflated version.

3) The Mild-Weather Collared Bomber

I’ve been loving collared bombers lately. They feel a bit throwback, but still very relevant.

A collared bomber keeps the easy, waist-length shape of a classic bomber but swaps the typical ribbed collar for a fold-down shirt-style collar.

Here are 3 different styles:

An alternative for the leather bomber would be to hop on eBay and grab a vintage one. I just purchased a J.Crew leather bomber from the '90s (for $150!) in perfect condition.

If you have a bit of patience and enjoy the hunt, there are lots of options on tha 'Bay.

Have a great week ahead!
